Here goes folks

Hi everyone. This is just to test this out. I'm not really sure how this all works, but am happy that we are finding a place where we can support each other in a "virtual" sense, even though we can't in a more face to face manner.

how does it all work at Graydon

Post  Zulikha Hussain on Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:09 pm

I was wondering how Graydon works for the girls. What do the girls say to their friends and other family members about where they attend school? Do they make up a name or do they feel comfortable letting them know that they are at Graydon?

Do you get to sit in any of the Psyciatrist meetings, does one medicine seem to work better then another?

Has anyone had a good experience with any particular medicine for their girl?

Hello,

Sorry for not responding before now. Seems like between working, home and all the time I spend driving back and for to Graydon each week there simply is very little time for anything else.
Funny you should bring up the subject of how the girls share where they are with others outside of their family circle. We ran into this this past weekend when we went into a gift shop in Leesburg. The clerk asked Darien where she went to school.....Darien stumbled around trying to come up with something to say....she felt very funny and in the end the clerk ended up just looking at her funny as we walked out. I guess that is something that we as a family should decide for future use.

As far as the medication issue....I struggle with that. Darien has been on so many different meds since this all came to a head 7 months ago. She has gained so much weight (which I've been told is the medication)..which seems to me to be counterproductive. The meds she is taking to help her feel better are causing things to happen to her that make her feel worse about herself...go figure! I realize that med changes need to be done slowly and with much thought, but I worry about that end of it. I pray for a day when she doesn't need them anymore. I just think in so many ways the meds add more to the mix than is good.

I hope you all are hanging in there and if there is any way I can be of support to any of you, please don't be afraid to let me know!
